~ Cleanup and Accounting ~ Estate Sale Services to Expect
When the estate sale ends, the cleanup and accounting begin. This is our final responsibility, and one we take seriously. Our clients appreciate the care we show to their home while liquidating its contents.
The Final Clearing
The morning following the sale we remove all remaining signs that were not picked up the previous evening. Then we return to the home to remove all of our supplies and fixtures. (It fills two vans!) With all that out of the way, we can start with the actual cleanup. All trash in and around the house will be bagged and placed on the street for trash pick-up. We rehang any doors that had been taken down to help with traffic flow. We then vacuum the entire house. I realize this is more labor than one usually expects from their estate sale service. But we promise to take the burden off the client, who is often elderly and totally stressed-out. This does help.
The Final Accounting
The final job of Estate Sale Specialists is an accounting of the sale proceeds. State tax is paid on all retail sales and this is accounted for by us, not the client. Within a week following the sale, the client will receive a printed statement of the gross sales, taxes paid, and commission paid to Estate Sale Specialists. It will be accompanied by a check for the balance of the proceeds. So, the only effort the client will need to make in order to liquidate the entire estate, is to cash a check. Sweet!
Did We Miss Anything?
On the Home Page we outlined the basic standards one should demand of an estate sale service. We have followed with a detailed explanation of the services we provide (
appraisal and pricing,
showcasing,
advertising,
conducting the
sale day
) right down to the cleanup and accounting. Estate Sale Specialists works mainly in Mississippi but, hopefully, this information can be helpful, regardless of where you live. Contact Us with any concerns and we will be happy to answer your questions.
