~ Estate Sale Day ~ Services We Provide
Days, often weeks,of work have led up to the actual Estate Sale Day. All of the prior planning,
appraisal and pricing,
showcasing,
and
advertising
are what will make this day a rousing success. The house will be clean and everything for sale will be displayed to its best advantage.
In most cases, the house where the estate sale is given will be for sale. Estate Sale Specialists will work with the homeowner's realtor in any way possible. Estate sale day brings in hundreds of people and this provides a good opportunity to advertise the home. We will be happy to display the realtor's flyers about the house at our sale and pass along their contact information. This is done solely as a courtesy to our client, as we are not involved in the sale of the house.
Final Prep
Normally, our estate sale will be held on a Friday and Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m. each day. For Estate Sale Specialists, our estate sale day begins about 6 a.m. with the placing of signs in the neighborhood. They need to be out before the morning traffic rush.
Next, our workers begin to arrive at the house. They will clip on name tags and receive assignments for the day. Someone will handle the sale of items in the garage and outdoors. Patio and pool furniture, potted plants, etc. will be brought around to the front of the house.
Inside the house, the check-out table will be set up. Wrapping paper, bags and boxes are assembled there for the shoppers' purchases. Estate Sale Specialists provides Visa and MasterCard services for customers at the check-out table.
Clearing it Out!
Promptly at 9 a.m., the doors will be opened and the house sale will begin. (The garage and outdoor sales start a bit earlier.) The sale can be something of a madhouse for several hours but we work hard to keep things moving smoothly. After a long, hectic, and (hopefully) profitable day of selling, we close up around 5 p.m. We return the next morning and do it all again.
On the second day of the sale, prices will be reduced and the serious bargaining begins. At 5 p.m. there is little left in the once full house. A few pieces of furniture and some of the housewares are usually all that remain. This remainder will be sold as one lot, and the estate will be fully liquidated.
The end of Estate Sale Day(s) does not end the responsibilities of Estate Sale Specialists. The next step in the process will be the house
cleanup and accounting
of the sale proceeds.
